After Target Upgrade

Block Collider protocol upgrade and how to participate as a miner or market maker.

Summary

• The team has successfully deployed an upgrade allowing Block Collider to automatically resolve inter-blockchain operations (such as trades) where one or more blockchains fail.
• On January 31st, at 9PM EST, a 2-day public testnet will begin, RC3 to confirm the upgrade at scale.

What Was Built

One of Block Collider’s founding blockchains experienced downtime of more than 3 hours from January 7th — January 9th. This is unacceptable for users, so the team went to work on a solution that would allow the thousands of Block Collider miners worldwide to automatically “pause” a dead chain without interrupting cross-chain applications or trades. This solution is now implemented.

How Do I Prepare

If you are not a developer, there are two ways to prepare “PIGs” or “Passive Income Generators” for the launch Borderless next month.

1. Mining: Mining has a long half life. This means that those who stick with it longest, even with the smallest hardware, often are rewarded with the most ownership of the network. This advantage is often skewed toward the earliest adopters. To mine Block Collider, you will need an internet connection with at least 5MB/s speed and a computer running Windows, Linux, or Mac with at least 8GB of memory. 2. Market Making: Market making is one of the least discussed industries in modern financial markets. All the dramatization of “Wall Street” is just that, drama. In reality, those who create the most value are least likely to share their strategy. The silence around market making is an unmistakable indicator of its value. The Block Collider team have created a market making bot which will automatically trades on your behalf on major exchanges (like Binance) to clear profitable orders on Borderless. While we can’t guarantee significant returns, the idea of heading to work for the day while a hard working bot generates value is appealing. Irregardless, this is an excellent introduction to one of the most profitable and least-discussed areas of financial markets.
